It is the movie that superhero fans have been eagerly awaiting for years. After starring in their own films, characters like Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America will finally appear together in a new blockbuster movie, The Avengers.
The adventure begins when a mysterious enemy threatens the safety and security of the world. To save the planet, Nick Fury must act fast. As the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., a secret law-enforcement agency, Fury decides to assemble what he calls “a group of remarkable people.” To defeat the foe, however, these superheroes must learn to work together as a team.
The bar has been set high for The Avengers. Earlier movies featuring the characters in this film have been very successful. Robert Downey Jr. won praise in 2008 for his performance in the box-office hit Iron Man. The sequel, Iron Man 2, was just as well received. Chris Evans starred in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. This film was another commercial and critical success. In that same year, the movie Thor earned even more money at the box office and made a star out of Chris Hemsworth, the actor who played the Norse god. |
